Component 3: Technical Application's Impact
Task One: Provide a forecast of what the workforce demand would be over a five-year period to produce and market your team’s technical application or process. Include the impact such production would have on the marketplace.
The workforce needed to carry out this process for over a five year period would help the nation's economy because it provides jobs for many educated individuals to test out and market this process. Also, the nation would trade its bio- fuel with other countries helping its economy even more.
TThe impact this process would create in the market is that this process produces around Algae yield greater volumes of biofuel per acre of production than crop plant-based biofuel sources. Algae could yield more than 2000 gallons of fuel per acre of production per year whereas the fermenting method of obtaining ethanol from algae only gives yu about 650 gallons of ethanol per acre. Also since we are selling this gas at 1 dollar per litre which is less expensive than regular petroleum, many people would opt for this fuel to power their cars, thus making the demand for bio- ethanol going high, the demand for petrol going low and the amount of carbon being emitted into the atmosphere being reduced by about 70%- 80%. Adding to this, this process won't kill plants or harm the environment in any way, making it even more environmentally friendly.

1) The Oregon Institute of Technology has developed the country’s first four-year undergraduate degree program in renewable-energy systems

Bachelor of Science in Renewable Energy Engineering
Description: The degree program begins by establishing a solid foundation of physics, chemistry and mathematics, which pave the way for coursework in electrical and mechanical engineering. The Renewable Energy curriculum prepares graduates for engineering careers in the energy sector in general, and the renewable energy in particular.
2)The State University of New York in Canton started year degree program in alternative and renewable energy.
Department: Alternative and renewable energy engineering.
This program is being offered in the State University of New York, Canton.
Description: In this degree program a student will be able to formulate solutions to the needs of the public for alternative and renewable sources of energy. They become effective project planners and managers of alternative and renewable energy projects and will be prepared to respond to the dynamic needs of the alternative energy market. They will be able to communicate in an organized manner through technical reports in written, oral, and other formats appropriate to alternative and renewable energy issues and would also develop skills to function in and lead a team-based effort.
This program opens many career options for the students including designers for engineering firms, manufacturer's representatives, field managers for contracting firms, contractors, and sales representatives.
Task Three: Develop an idea for a new science and/or engineering degree program that might emerge given the advancements in scientific knowledge that the team has identified. Provide a title and 100-word description of this new degree program.
Bio ethanol extraction processes
This program would be a four year post graduate program for people whose undergraduate degree is in the branch of renewable energy engineering. At the end of this program, the student would recieve a Master in renewable energy enginerring. This course would offer many new ways to extract bio- mass fuels from various sources. These include corn, algae, rice and other live feed- stock. It also would include the designs of the complex machines used to extract these fuels and also an overview of the process used to obtain bio- fuel in each one. Also, this course will help graduates develop new ways in extracting bio- ethanol and they will also get a chance to try out their methods and if these methods work, they could actually be used in the production of ethanol
